Director of Software Engineering
Direct Hire
Salary is DOE; ~160-180k + 25% bonus
San Diego, CA 92123 (Mission Valley)

The company provides real-time remote heart monitoring and analysis. They are an Apple partner and are in the process of moving to a cloud and microservices architecture.

Required Skills/Experience:
• Medical Device experience including knowledge of / experience with 510k submissions and 62304 software compliance for medical devices
• Experience managing developers and multiple concurrent projects
• Strong experience as a hands-on developer with one or more of the following: C#, Java, Android, C++
• Experience architecting software systems including loosely coupled services and API’s
• Complete familiarity with various software development lifecycle methodologies
• Agile leadership, planning and execution
• Experience working with consulting partners including project definition, Request For Quote/Proposal creation, SOW creation, and acceptance criteria
• Experience in outsourced and staff augmentation/co-development models and ensuring consistent knowledge and skill sets between internal and multiple external development partners
• BS Degree in Engineering; MS Preferred
• Comfortable with 10% travel in the US and Europe

• Able to strategically lead the team and be great at managing partners
• Outstanding written and verbal communication skills
• Able to articulate technically complex ideas to several different audiences

The Director, Software Engineering will lead our software strategy and execution. You will be part of the R&D leadership team and be responsible for the development of the software team, team culture, driving continuous improvement throughout the team, and the successful delivery and support of software products to our customers.
• Currently manage a team of 5 direct reports, and also external relations and development partners
• Delivery of the software product roadmap including hosted services, mobile applications and desktop applications
• Enforce and adapt the appropriate development process across our software portfolio of enterprise systems, consumer devices, and medical devices
• Software resources management and coordination with development partners
• Ownership and development of strategic initiatives related to software
• Conduct managerial tasks related to staffing, counseling and reviewing
• Travel, as required, to corporate or partner sites for project coordination
